thảo luận Practicing English with vOzers :D

I don't think speaking with another, who want to improve their speaking, will help you. You could try bindr.uk, there are many foreign people on that app so you can practice with them.
btw how do u want to talk, online or offline?

I agree with you. It doesn't work if both are speak wrong, unless one is good enough to correct the other.
If you want to try to practice online, i suggest free4talk
I think the important part of speaking with another is to encourage the usage of English. Many problem with speaking come from the lack of practice and bad speaking skill make people shy away from using it in real life, then it become an unending loop. Having someone to talk with may help one get over the fear of speaking in English.
Beside English speaking/communication skill is not all about pronunciation alone. I can read and write English quite decently, but when it come to speaking sometime my brain just freeze and I will have to warm up for a few minutes before I can speak normally. Even then, I still can't come up to all the word I know (although my vocabulary not half bad thanks to my love for novel reading). Having someone so speak with regularly perhaps can help with this as it make our brain learning to speaking using English instead of Vietnamese.
Sorry for the long comment, but this just my opinion and I'm by no mean good at English so please don't take this too seriously because I can be severely wrong. :beat_brick:

OMG, working with Japanese is such a pain in the ass. I have to work with 2 Japanese companies for my new project, and I have to revised a file 5 times, 5 god damn times in a single day. And their latest comments on my previous revision are: I don't like this font, I don't like this font size, why the material size is not round (because the vendor's original specification is not round too),... This is truly a horror, I don't mind doing heavy/hard task, but wasting a whole day to revise small and insignificant detail really annoy me. :beat_brick:

It's part of their work etiquette I guess, focusing on the tiniest and insignificant parts or issues. That's how they earned their reputation of being overly meticulous. I sometimes wonder if it's actually the secret sauce for their success and a lot of other things.

I mean, the smallest things can have a huge impact, like a small bolt on a construction machine for example. If someone just think "Meh, it's only bolts, use the cheapest you can grab from Aliexpress or whatever. Also bolt them in by hand, no need for expensive machinery and manpower.", it could end up backfiring when they can't handle the stress and give up, breaking down the machine, which takes time and money to repair and delays crucial work. You'd rather get the best bolts and install them properly, saving some possible pain in the long run.

I'm heading straight for a wall of text at this point, and to be frank, I'd annoyed too if someone makes me do something over and over again just for the sake of perfection.

Hii all,
I've received some messages as well as quotes from you guys, thanks for your attention. And also my apologies for the late reply, I was really busy that week. After thinking carefully, I decided not to look for English partners anymore, I will try it myself. I hope you can understand and sympathize with me.
I don't know why I always put myself in difficult situations. Apart from a 5 to 9 job, I own a small business in the evening. Besides that, I have to improve myself to meet working requirements and also my personality. That sounds like I'm an extremely ambitious girl, huh?
But you know, once you have started to do something, you can't turn back. You can only go forward.
It's Sunday afternoon, write some lines quickly, and come back to work...
Have a nice weekend, everyone :*

Good luck to you. Be careful to not burn yourself out.

It’s almost been a year since I last viewed this thread. This is one of a few helpful and informative threads on vOz and I do enjoy reading everyone’s posts. I’m usually distracted by the notorious f33, f17 and sometimes ending up wasting times on useless topicsd and not getting any useful knowledge. I think voz has better place for you to be better and that doesn’t necessarily have to be f33 or f17. Maybe I should re-organize my time on the more informative box.

Holy mother of god. Are you for real? You just make me feel so ashamed of myself. So I'm working for a construction company. But due to covid, there's not a lot of big construction job right now in VN. So I got around 1 year off with full salary (still got some work here and there but not worth counting). And I'm just lying around doing nothing except for playing game, watching movie or reading book. And here you are, having a small business and do 5-9 job at the same time :pudency:
Anyway about that English practice, I think it's better to make a small group chat (3-4). First it will help you get less creepy inbox. Second it will make it less awkward for someone like me (I have weird taste of hobby so I rarely know what to talk, a group gonna help this). Third a group mean that when someone feels uncomfortable they can just quit (1 on 1 gonna be awkward). But this is just my opinion, and I don't even know if I would join if we really make a group.

Honestly f33 and f17 is a shitshow these days. Voz's peak was around 2010 I think, we also trash talk then but it's all funny and such. Nowadays, everyone trash talk for the sake of trash talk, they talk shit about every thing whether good or bad. I have stopped browsing f17 since around 2018, and lately I rarely check f33 too. :too_sad:
But to be fair, F33 have a lot of great debater. Watching an argument topic from many different point of view may actually help one develop oneself if we actually open our mind to it.

I used to waste lots of time. I made many mistakes in the past also. So this is the time for me to try fucking hard to fix all of that bugs =]]
You know, sometimes I wish I could have a peaceful life. Actually, I used to post a thread on v0z to complain that I am so stressed at that time. But, in another aspect, I have had many interesting experiences compared to my friends who are around my age. All of those happened to make me today. I do not mean that's good, but it is just me now, so it's okay :D
Finally, my point is, just give everything a go, say yes to challenges if you can, and keep going forward.

I can't understand why I can have a crush on the person whom I've just met a few times :< I don't know his name nor his age. Haven't seen his face, but I can recognize him in the crowd. It's so strange, isn't it? π-π

I choose topics to read, it helps me avoid being caught up on trash topic. Usually, reading arguments gives me multiple perspectives.

I diagnose you with Korean drama syndrome. The only cure is to ask the guy out, have fun and quit using phone + watching TV

You just don't care anymore, it won't be strange.
When I go out, I rarely observe other people, so I don't have much impression of strangers. Only if I connect with them after some time, I will have my own impression of them.

Well one does not simply understand how the mind and the heart work. Go for it my friend :ah:

Yeah, it's amazing how f33 can give so many great perspectives and good arguments. It's sad that we're getting less and less every day :beat_brick:
