AMD Ryzen 5000 “Vermeer” on B2 stepping is only to improve production and availability​

Yesterday it was reported that AMD is developing a new stepping of its Vermeer processors. Meanwhile, the Polish website Benchmark.pl has reached out to AMD for a comment on this matter.



The site received an official statement that basically confirms that the stepping has no other purpose than to improve the availability and production of existing processors. Those CPUs are to become available in the next 6 months, the company reveals in the statement.

AMD confirms that B2 stepping has no effect on performance or functionality and will require no BIOS upgrade from the user.

As part of our continued effort to expand our manufacturing and logistics capabilities, AMD will gradually move AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Desktop Processors to B2 Revision over the next 6 months. The revision does not bring improvements in terms of functionality or performance, furthermore, no BIOS update will be required.

This statement ends the speculation on the Ryzen 5000XT series being said B2 stepping. AMD has so far not confirmed it is planning a refresh of its Vermeer series, nor have revealed plans for a successor (Warhol/Phoenix).
