Rò rỉ thông số 6 card đồ họa gaming Intel Xe, con mạnh nhất vượt mặt cả AMD RX 6800.

Trên Twitter vừa mới xuất hiện một danh sách chứa thông số của những chiếc card Intel Xe DG2. Những thông số được liệt kê nhìn có vẻ cũng hợp lý, vì dù gì Intel Xe DG1 và iGPU Iris Xe của chip “Tiger Lake” cũng đã xuất hiện rồi. Danh sách này có đến 6 phiên bản card đồ họa rời khác nhau, nhưng không rõ là có bao nhiêu sẽ được tung ra thị trường.


Trước đây từng xuất hiện bộ kit thử nghiệm DG2 nên khả năng là những con GPU thử nghiệm đầu tiên sẽ chứa 128 và 512 EU (execution unit). Để hiểu đơn giản thì có thể nói mỗi EU của Intel sẽ tương đương với 8 stream processors – khái niệm thường hay thấy đối với card NVIDIA và AMD.

Do đó, con GPU Intel Xe DG2 đầu bảng với 512 EU sẽ có tới 4096 stream processor, và khả năng là nó sẽ vượt mặt card AMD RX 6800 luôn, miễn là đạt được xung nhịp thấp nhất là 2 GHz (phòng trường hợp RX 6800 boost lên 2,1 GHz). Còn chiếc card chứa 384 EU thì sẽ mạnh hơn AMD RX 6700 XT nếu không tính đến chuyện xung nhịp, phần còn lại sẽ lấp vào những phân khúc thấp hơn.

Vẫn chưa rõ ngày ra mắt của những con GPU Intel Xe phiên bản dành cho game thủ là khi nào, nhưng khả năng là trong năm 2021. Và vì NVIDIA và AMD đang chật vật với vấn đề khan hàng nên nếu Intel có thể tung ra một vài con card trong thời điểm này thì game thủ sẽ có thêm sự lựa chọn mới, lại càng thú vị.

Intel’s Xe-HPG (DG2) engineering board teased by Raja Koduri?​


Intel DG2 running 3DMark?​

Just a month after teasing Xe-HPG architecture being tested in 3DMark, Raja Koduri, a Senior VP and GM at Architecture and Graphics division at Intel, has posted a photo that might be showing the actual graphics card in action.

Raja Koduri has already posted a screenshot from the 3DMark Mesh Shader test, which was being evaluated with Xe-HPG hardware at Intel Labs even before the test was available to the public. Today Koduri posted a photo from Intel’s California Folsom test lab likely showing the DG2 graphics card in action.

Till today Intel has not shown any pictures of the new DG2 family of GPUs. The Xe-HPG is a new architecture designed specifically for gaming. The first generation of GPUs should feature three variants, offering up to 512 Execution Units.

The new photo has unfortunately not been labeled as DG2 or Xe-HPG, instead, Koduri is recalling the year 2012 when he was testing older GPUs at the very same lab. What he did say, however, is that the new GPU is more than 20 times faster.

A closer look reveals an engineering board with a large CPU-like heatsink and cooler. This is a common way of testing new GPUs, which are often swapped out of the socket during the evaluation. On the desk, we can see two power supplies, one being directly attached to the GPU evaluation board, while the other one is supplying power to the motherboard. The GPU engineering board is attached to the motherboard through the PCIe riser. It is unclear which motherboard is being used, but it looks similar (but not the same) to the recently teased Alder Lake board.

While the tweet does not mention DG2 even once, we have some clues lying around. The 3DMark software that is installed on the system has all 3DMark feature tests installed, including the DirectX DXR test. The current generation of Xe GPUs (Xe-LP) has no capability of running raytracing. What this suggests is that this system was specifically prepared for DG2, which has already been confirmed to support hardware acceleration for ray tracing.

Intel has not yet confirmed the possible launch date for its new discrete GPUs, which will be available for both desktops and mobile devices. The manufacturer has confirmed though that it will be manufactured using an external foundry. It is unclear if DG2 will be made in 7nm or 6nm fabrication node, but most rumors have been pointing towards the smaller node.

Intel confirms Discrete Graphics2 (DG2) will offer up to 512 Execution Units

Intel Discrete Graphics 2 mobile gaming GPU in 5 variants​

Intel confirms multiple details on its upcoming DG2 gaming discrete graphics.



Intel has updated its official repository website with details on Intel DG2. Unfortunately, none of these files are accessible. Documents are only available to people who are under NDA (such as system integrators or laptop makers. What isn’t clear is why the files are easily searchable, revealing some of the details in the process.

Intel confirms 512EU, 384EU, and 128EU variants of DG2, five SKUs

First and foremost Intel confirmed DG2 will launch in three variants: 512 EU, 384 EU, and 128 EU. The EU stands for Execution Units (the main building block for Intel graphics architecture. If there are no significant changes to the architecture, those GPUs would feature 8 shading units per EU. Thus, the 512EU variant might have up to 4096 ALUs (aka cores). The DG2-512EU will have a BGA2660 socket whereas DG2-128EU would require a BGA1379 socket instead.



Five DG2 SKUs for laptops

The data also reveals that mobile variants of DG2 will feature five SKUs. The details on those variants are unknown, but there have been rumors that Intel might release 512, 384, 256, 192, 128, and 96 EU variants. Some of those could be for desktops though:



DG2 memory configurations: 16GB, 8GB, 6GB and 4GB

There are multiple listings with memory configurations for DG2 GPUs. It would appear that the flagship model will indeed get 16GB memory and have a TGP of 150W, specs similar to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU.



It would appear that SKU1 is 512 EU, SKU2 is 384EU, SKU 3 is 256 EU, SKU4 is 128EU and SKU5 is 96EU. There is no 192 EU variant it seems.

DG2 GDDR6 speed from 14 to 18Gbps

DG2 also confirms that GDDR6 memory support on this GPU will vary from 14 to 18 Gbps. Intel already confirmed Xe-HPG architecture has GDDR6 support, but the company never revealed the maximum speed. Of course, just because the memory subsystem supports speeds up to 18 Gbps, it does not mean that the final product will offer such a speed.



DG2 PCIe Add-In-Card

One of the listings also clarifies that the GPU will be available as an add-in card. This means that at least some variants (not clarified which one exactly) will not be soldered onto the motherboard but offered as a separate board instead.



Designed for both Tiger Lake-H and Alder Lake-P

Intel also confirmed that DG2 will debut with the 11th Gen Core Tiger Lake-H series, now expected to launch in the second quarter. Intel is also planning to offer DG2-512EU variants for its Alder Lake-P CPUs, a high-end mobile series expected to succeed Tiger Lake-H.



This information aligns with the specifications that leaked last year. For DG2 the ADL-P platform is considered a second-generation but it is not clear exactly what would change in terms of specifications for the GPU itself:
