thảo luận Practicing English with vOzers :D

Hope you get better friend. I had 4 months off because of covid (with full salary luckily) and it really help easing my mind. The only downside is that now I'm too lazy to work again. :beat_brick:
Some thing happen in life at exactly the right time, could be meeting a right person, bored with a job don't enjoy, break up, had a some personal issue. All of those things happened to me at the right time so i wonder that they happen and shape what i eventually will become. Anyway i have to get a job soon to preserve my way of life.

It's already my 6th day off work because of covid, so sad, I spent most of the day holding my laptop reading crap on the internet. It is so boring that stock market has no trade on weekends. I no longer have any symptoms of covid but the test is still positive so I can't go to the office like others else. I tried to find a certain movie to kill my time but I realized that there are no movies where I can sit for long. At least I come back super-topic about Ukraina war on f33 to see US pro and Russia pro combat by keyboard

Hi guys.
I just found this forum.
How are you?
I live in Danang.
Covid everywhere.
So scary...
It's cold here but will get warmer by the time.
Hope everyone will be fine.

Yesterday I decided to register a speaking course to improve my English. That's hard with my thinking because that course fee is so expensive. :byebye: I hope a lot of lucky things will come to me after this registering, especially job.

About 5 millions for a course that includes 3 months. It has been appropriated most of my salary in this months. I also have many things to spend money except the course. Especially, I just start self - made living.

That's a lot of money :D I hope you will make the most of your time in the course, so that eating all of that instant noodle for the rest of the month won't feel as painful :shame::shame::shame: Jokes aside, it's great that you have invested in yourself so much.

To be honest I learned English mainly by watching movie so my grammar maybe off. I never tried IELTS before but on the one time I took the PTE test, I scored 79 all bands which might be translated to 8-8.5 IELTS depends on opinions.
My pronunciation is also an issue, still better than Indian accent though, I think.
I'm sure I have much to learn from everyone here. I'm happy to be more active here. VOZ is crazy, I found more people that have the same mindset with me here more than anywhere.

Same here man. I stop learning English in since 9th grade because the thought of study bore me. Since then all I do is playing game, reading manga, watching movie and reading books. Thanks to that my reading and listening skill is not half bad but my pronunciation suck ass.
Btw, you live in NZ? where they filmed LotR? I truly envy you man.

Perhaps it's a good chance to find some hobby or learn some new skill. I love my off time because of covid. I started everyday with a cup of coffee, read my book, played game and repeat. Saying this out loud make me truly feels like a loser haha

I scared me at first too. But now I stop giving a damn since I'm working at construction site and there is no way to avoid it. One time, I was having a cup of coffee with a team leader and I asked him why one of his guys not going to work that day. His reply was that his guy had covid and could not come. He assured me then that dude was still ok because he had a drinking night with that dude the night before and that dude could still drink a lot. At that time I have absolutely no idea what to do. If I just stand up and leave, I fear he would have punched the shit out of me. So I just sit there, drinking coffee and decided that no matter how careful I am, I cannot make the other do as I do.

the way my engrisk is going from worse to worser. i would love to have native speakers as friends so i could finally use my engrisk for something useful. thinking and talking to myself in engrisk aren’t enough me fears :too_sad:

Same here man, I've always want to improve my pronunciation/communication skill. The last project I got to work with some Germany guys, but I didn't have much chance to talk with them. The project I've been working on for almost 2 years are for a Korean company. And man, Korean's English is so bad, it make me feels like the more I work with them the worse my English skill become. I may have a chance to work for a Japanese project at the end of this year, I really hope it will give me a chance to improve my English.

Yeah about that...Doesn't the Japanese kinda dislike English and learning English in general, preferring their mother tongue? :beat_brick: My suggestion is grabbing some English material, books, films from actual native speakers, there's no way their ghetto English (tiếng Anh bồi) is going to help you

haha, according to what you wrote, I think your feeling is legit. But, eaux wow, you get to work with foreigners, that's like... so cool. I used to have a foreign coworker but I also barely had a chance to talk to her. Have you made any foreign friends at work?

Ya, I heard that also but in the last meeting I had with them, the project manager spoke English really well. Still I fear that was because he is the top guy in the project, and the other guys wouldn't be at that level.
About your suggestion, I watch a lot of movie in English, and read a tons of book in English also (around 16 books last year I believe). The main problem is that I don't have much chance to use it in real life, so I can listen and read quite decent but my speaking skill is a big pile of sh!t :beat_brick:

I think I can say that I have 1 Korean friend but we are not really close. We became friends because we have the same taste of music (metal). When he quitted his work to set up his own company, he did invite me to work with him, but I didn't like the way he works so I declined. We don't talk much since, but I still send him a text once in a while to ask for some music recommendation. :shame:
I know another great Korean guys, and we are much closer. But I see him more as a teacher than as a friend tho.
