OPPO is taking on the smartband market thanks to the introduction of the OPPO Band, OPPO Band Fashion, and OPPO Band EVA. The cheapest of the three, the OPPO Band, is priced at 199 yuan (US$28) and was launched today. The OPPO Band series will be taking on competitors like the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 and the Redmi Band.
OPPO has officially
announced the OPPO Band, OPPO Band Fashion, and OPPO Band EVA. The OPPO Band, which is already available for purchase, costs 199 yuan (US$28). The OPPO Band Fashion, which is scheduled for sales release on July 9, has a price tag of 249 yuan (US$35), while the OPPO Band EVA that will also be released in July is priced at 299 yuan (US$42). The OPPO Band series is entering a competitive marketplace that features strong rivals such as the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 and the
Redmi Band.
OPPO has fitted its smartbands with 1.1-inch AMOLED screens (126x294) capable of covering 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. Unsurprisingly, the smartbands are brimming with features such as an SpO2 sensor, 12 sport modes, 5 ATM water resistance, heart-rate monitor, and alarms. The user can choose from 160 watch faces, and the battery life (100-mAh cell) is supposed to last 14 days on a single charge. Charging to full takes 1.5 hours via the use of a pogo pin charger (not USB).
The more-expensive OPPO Band Fashion can take on the
Xiaomi Mi Band 4 in the domestic Chinese market by also offering NFC functionality. Along with coming with or without NFC, the main
differences between the three OPPO bands are based on design and color: For instance, the OPPO Band EVA is a variant of the OPPO Band Fashion that should appeal to fans of the anime series
Neon Genesis Evangelion. It’s not yet known what specifications and prices the global variants of the OPPO Band series will have or when they might be released.
