The RTX 3080 Ti is definitely coming.

After numerous delays, NVIDIA has finally settled to launch its new enthusiast graphics card in May, multiple source claim. As we approach the launch of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the usual cycle of specs and pricing rumors floating around the web has begun. This means that the launch is indeed imminent.

NVIDIA GA102-225 GPU

A source has provided a first photograph of the new Ampere GPU. As reported earlier, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is based on GA102-225 GPU. This variant will feature 10240 CUDA cores and it will be paired with 12GB of GDDR6X memory.

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Ethereum mining?

A small note before we go into mining hash rate. It appears that the graphics card is not recognized by the driver. It is possible that the sample being tested dates before NVIDIA introduced its alleged crypto mining limiter. It is said that NVIDIA will be releasing new variants of its entire RTX 30 series which would feature both crypto limiter and ResizableBAR support. Before this was communicated to AIBs, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti qualification samples did not have the limiter. This was revealed by Igor’sLAB. We do not know which qualification sample was tested by the leaker, nor of this score is true, but it is possible that the mining performance represented in this leak actually features a sample that has no limiter implemented.

According to the screenshot, this particular GeForce RTX 3080 Ti sample would offer an ETH mining hash rate of 118.9 Mh/s. That’s a lot. But this is also after optimizations (we can see that the TDP is reduced to 278W and the memory clock is 21.4 Gbps). Such a mining performance would certainly not go unnoticed by miners. After all, literally, the first performance leak of RTX 3080 Ti features mining performance. It just proves how big of a problem it has become.

This leak also reveals RTX 3080 Ti clock speeds of 1365 MHz base and 1665 MHz boost. That’s lower than both RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. A reduction in clock speeds was to be expected though. This model would pose a threat to NVIDIA’s own flagship and that’s something NVIDIA cannot allow to happen. The 12GB GDDR6X memory appears to be set to 1188 MHz by default, which confirms 19 Gbps speed, just as RTX 3080.

GeForce-RTX-3080-Ti-Hero-Banner-1200x261.jpg

ITHome reports on a forum post from Expreview forums. These forums are no longer public, so this is pretty much the only way to see what is being shared there. According to one of the posts, NVIDIA has now provided a full launch scheduled for its RTX 3080 Ti graphics card.

It is alleged that GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will be announced on May 18th with reviews going up a week later on May 25th. The previous date that was reported, May 26th is actually a release date, which in this case means “availability” in stores.

  • May 18th: Announcement
  • May 25th: Reviews
  • May 26th: Release Date

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM X pictured

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM X

It looks like MSI ready to launch its RTX 3080 Ti graphics card.

Just two weeks ago we reported that MSI preparing RTX 3080 Ti Ventus 3X graphics cards. The manufacturer is more than ready to launch its new graphic cards, those cards are already shipping worldwide to distribution centers. The previous leak revealed that Ventus cards were being shipped to Los Angeles headquarters, the new leak also points towards a product that is ready for retail. Our source has told us that the photo is from a distribution center, but no further details were provided.

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM X, Source: VideoCardz

MSI SUPRIM X is the flagship model from the manufacturers’ series. These cards offer the best performance and best quality materials. Unlike the GAMING TRIO series which debuted in September 2020, the SURIM models feature a full metal backplate. MSI GAMING series was prone to backplate cracking because they were poorly designed and made of plastic.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is a new high-end graphics card that should offer performance comparable to RTX 3090. However, unlike the flagship 1,499 USD graphics card, this model will feature half of the memory – it ships with 12GB GDDR6X 384-bit memory. A big reduction in memory capacity and a slight decrease in CUDA core count (10240) will definitely provide an interesting option, should the pricing of graphics cards stabilize, of course.

The RTX 3080 Ti should be announced on May 18th with a release date planned for May 26th (both dates were not confirmed). This SKU will launch at the same time as NVIDIA is refreshing its while RTX 30 lineup with Lite Hash Rate series. This model, along with the LHR series will all feature crypto mining hash rate limiter as well as ResizableBAR.

Many thanks to Alexey for the photo!

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti category shows up on MSI website

MSI confirms GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is coming

It is still more than 2 weeks before NVIDIA is expected to officially announce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti. This fact has not stopped MSI from adding an appropriate search filter on its website though.

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is now listed on the MSI website as a filter for the graphics card product category. The filter does not show any products yet, which implies that the change has been made recently before any products were added.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is now rumored to be announced on May 29th, with the launch planned for early June. This high-end model will feature GA102-225 GPU with 10240 CUDA cores. The graphics card will be equipped with 12GB of GDDR6X memory. Not much is known in terms of pricing and availability, but we do know that the RTX 3080 Ti as well as RTX 3070 TI and NVIDIA”s new LHR series will a new have cryptocurrency mining hash limiter enabled.

MSI confirms GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB and RTX 3070 Ti 8GB SUPRIM series

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti & RTX 3070 Ti

We received a presentation of MSI’s upcoming SUPRIM series featuring two unreleased Ti models.

The slides clearly confirm the memory configuration of both models. The new enthusiast RTX 3080 Ti model is to feature 12GB memory whereas the RTX 3070 Ti is to be equipped with 8GB. This is actually the first confirmation of the memory size for the GA104-400 based RTX 3070 Ti model. Before, it was only speculation.

MSI marketing materials clearly confirm that RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080 are to share the PCB design. The same would apply to RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 series. This would also be a confirmation on GA104 GPU on RTX 3070 Ti, which can be concluded from the PCB photo (GA102 and GA104 GPUs have a different layout of capacitors). The RTX 3070 Ti is expected to feature a full GA104 GPU with 6144 CUDA cores.

The manufacturer is to launch four RTX 3080Ti/3070Ti graphics cards. Sadly, there are no detailed specifications listed here, only the basic features of the SUPRIM series, which are the flagship series from MSI. The specs sheet does not list the GPU nor memory specs of these cards, so there is still no confirmation on GDDR6X on the RTX 3070 Ti.

LEADTEK GeForce RTX 3080 Ti WinFast Hurricane pictured, 12GB memory confirmed

Leadtek WinFast Hurricane gets Ti treatment

A first RTX 3080 Ti to leak ahead of launch.

We have seen leaked photos of RTX 3080 Ti from warehouses and retailers, for the first time we get to see official photos of the new NVIDIA SKU from one of the board partners. Leadtek is refreshing its RTX 3080 WinFast Hurricane with a more capable GA102-225 GPU and more memory.

Leadtek RTX 3080 Ti WinFast Hurricane, Source: VideoCardz

The RTX 3080 Ti model is essentially identical to RTX 3080, both cards feature the same board and cooler designs. We have not noticed any changes in design, which further confirms that both NVIDIA SKUs have a lot in common, including the same GPU and same TDP (320W). It is probably worth noting that official Leadtek renders do not show power connectors, but RTX3080/3090 models can be easily found on various YouTube videos. That said, this model is expected to continue using dual 8-pin connectors, in fact, even the RTX 3090 Hurricane has the same configuration.

Leadtek WinFast Hurricane is a semi-custom card, which means that the card features an NVIDIA reference board design but features a custom 3-slot triple-fan cooling solution. This model is to feature 10240 CUDA cores and 12GB GDDR6X memory, which is confirmed in the first photo. NVIDIA is now set to announce RTX 3080Ti and RTX 3070 Ti on May 31st during its Computex keynote. The graphics card will go on sale on June 4th.

Custom GeForce RTX 3080 Ti from Colorful, Lenovo and ZOTAC have been pictured

A fresh batch of custom RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards

We have new photos of the upcoming RTX 3080 Ti models.

ZOTAC RTX 3080 Ti AMP Holo/Trinity

ZOTAC is launching AMP Holo and Trinity models based on GA102-225 GPU. The AMP series represents the flagship series from ZOTAC, being only challenged by the ArcticStorm with the preinstalled water block. The company also offers custom models designed specifically for the Chinese market, but those cards are not available worldwide.

The AMP Holo keeps the dual 8-pin power connectors from the RTX 3080 non-Ti model. Both cards look pretty much the same. The important changes are hidden under the triple-fan cooling solution though. This model comes with 10240 CUDA cores and 12GB GDDR6X memory, both being an upgrade over the non-Ti series.

ZOTAC RTX 3080 Ti AMP Holo, Source: VideoCardz

The Trinity model comes with a slightly different cooler, it is obviously being targeted at a lower price point. This model specifically is the non-OC variant, which means it offers a reference clock speed of 1665 MHz.

ZOTAC RTX 3080 Ti Trinity, Source: VideoCardz

Colorful RTX 3080 Ti Advanced

A photo of the Colorful RTX 3080 Ti Advanced has also leaked. This model not-so-bad looking model represents the mid-tier in the Colorful lineup. The Advanced series should be outperformed by Vulcan, Neptune, and KUDAN series. The packaging does not reveal any details on the new SKU, but the card appears to be using the same cooling solution as the RTX 3080 non-Ti. No major changes here.

COLORFUL RTX 3080 Ti Advanced, Source: Baidu

Lenovo RTX 3080 Ti Legion

Desktop Planning Manager for Legion China has revealed the design of the RTX 3080 Ti model. Two graphics cards were photographed and published on Weibo social media platform. These cards are for pre-built Legion gaming PCs. These two cards are RTX 3080 and an unnamed RTX model which name was blurred out. It does not take a lot of effort to realize that the second card is 3080 Ti though. The only reason we know this is RTX 3080 Ti is that it will not feature an NVLInk connector for multi-GPU configuration. This feature is available to the RTX 3090 series.

This is actually the first board partner that we know of to be introducing major changes to the cooler for the Ti SKU. Both 3080 models are to feature the exact same reference board design, thus most AIBs opted to reuse existing coolers. Apparently, Lenovo decided to put a thicker 3-slot cooler on the new model, which actually makes a lot of sense considering it has the same TDP as RTX 3090 (350W).
