Ryzen 4000 mobile processors have already been a success for AMD, with the Zephyrus G14 impressing us so much that we proclaimed it kicks the "Core i9 to the Curb". For a 14-inch machine, the Zephyrus G14 and Ryzen 9 4900HS have incredible multi-threaded performance. However, the RTX 2060 Max-Qsimply cannot compete with NVIDIA's upper-tier RTX 20 series mobile GPUs.

Sadly, it looks like we shall never get to see what a Ryzen 9 4900H and RTX 2080 SUPER laptop could achieve. On the one hand, more Ryzen powered laptops are coming to market, including the RX 5500M-powered MSI Bravo 15 and 17 series.

However, Frank Azor has now confirmed that RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 Ryzen 4000 series laptops are not part of current OEM plans. Replying to Videocardz, Azor stated that these combinations will not be arriving "for a fair amount of time". Azor elaborated by adding that OEMs have decided this, not necessarily AMD or NVIDIA.

Effectively, Azor has confirmed that OEMs have relegated the Ryzen 4000 series to mid-range gaming laptops like the Zephyrus G14. In short, 2020 will be another year of Intel dominating the premium gaming laptop market, for better or worse.
