---Day 01

Today is May 4th, 2023
I have read a story about American History
It is interesting
That is a story about the 4th president of the United States
There was a war between England and France
They are competitors in Europe
That war started at the beginning of the 1800s
The U.S. wanted to be a neutral country
But both countries in the war do not want this situation
They want to make the U.S. become their ally
But the U.S. does not act that way
So Britain started to interfere with American ships
They seized any ships having trade with France
So this event make Americans so angry
They proposed and approved the non-intercourse act
This law allows the U.S. president to stop trading with Britain
There were many hostile acts between Britain and the American
These lead to the War of 1812

I have learned that English has a correlation with an economy of a country
This is the conclusion of Education First's English Proficiency Index report
There are 111 countries that participated in this survey around the world
It can not be denied that a higher English proficiency band a country has, a higher minimum wage that the country pays
Moreover, the human capital index and the freedom index seem to be outpaced when every individual has a good English proficiency
Among 111 non-English speaking countries that have taken this EF's test, Laos is the worst country in regard to English ability, whereas the Netherlands is the best
So it is worth learning and practicing English

Water and Venice usually go together like bees and honey
There was torrential rain in Venice over the last few days
Seventy percent of Venice is underwater
Tables in Saint Mark Square are almost completely underwater
The water level is high
The weather forecast is not very good for the next few days
More rain is coming

A driver in Russia is very lucky
He wanted to overtake a bus
Then he lost control of his car and smashed a lorry instead
The crash was very fast but a security camera caught that moment
The car was destroyed completely, but the driver was still alive
He was able to climb out of his car with very little help
This was a miracle

It was a really long time since the last time i entered this forum. I even don't know how to leave a emotion :D . Thanks for your inspiration!

It was a long working day. I have read many topics in the English language. I would like to share this with you guys.

The first one is about the Education First organization. It is helpful for those who want to learn English and study abroad. They are a multinational company. They have many language courses as well as visa counseling services. I have read an annual report of EF.

This report is the so-called EF English Proficiency Index which indicates the ability of countries and regions around the world. An exam should be done by test takers for 50 minutes. This exam is EF SET which stands for Standard English Test. It includes a 25-minute reading test and a 25-minute listening test. There were about roughly 2.1 million test takers. The sampling size is big enough to make this index a valuable source for evaluating the English ability of a certain country or region.

As you can guess, the European region is far much better in terms of English proficiency level than any other region across the globe. The Netherlands, Sweden, and Poland are countries on top of the world with very high English proficiency bands. Vietnam is in the moderate band. A surprising fact is that Thailand is in a very low English proficiency band.

There are many conclusions and recommendations for readers who want to improve their English skills. Check it out at the website of Education First, or search on Google with the keywords of EF EPI or EF SET.

Another topic that may be helpful for you. It is all about the educational philosophy. As you may not know, the kindergarten term has just been coined recently. The kindergarten in which children will be taught did not appear until the 18th century. Before that time, children have to work in many places with unpleasant and unhealthy conditions. It was believed that children working will reduce the burden on families. People at that time had no idea about the stages of children's development. Lacking food and poverty are some of the most common reasons for this phenomenon.

Over time, along with a wide range of innovations during the Industrial Revolution in the U.S. and Europe, working performance has increased significantly. Food is produced and packaged in assembly lines in many factories. Cost is reduced. Living conditions have improved dramatically. Children's labor is less likely to be a major source of a number of factories.

There are many thinkers who claimed that children and teenagers should be educated in a more friendly environment. They should learn and play in school. Advocates agree that the educational period will play an important role in modern society.

Thanks for reading. Have a good night!

Today, I would like to share with those who have no idea about the educational system in the United States. There is a number of schools in America such as Daycare, Kindergarten, Elementary School, High School, College, and University. In terms of funded resources, it can be divided into public and private schools.

There is a kind of school that is affordable for students in low-income families. That is community college one. This kind of college is designed for a wide range of students. You can enroll in the associate degree or certificate degree programs. It could be a 1-year or a 2-year program. After graduating from community colleges, you can transfer your completed credits to a next 2-year university program. The tuition in this program usually costs from $US 3.000 - 8.000 for in-state students.

A community college that I want to enroll in is SCC, which stands for Santiago Canyon College. SCC is located in the Northern California state. The area of the campus is large enough for various student activities. SCC provides many scholarships for first-time college students who register for a full-time program. The requirements vary. It could be maintaining a Grade Point Average of over 2.0, completing at least 12 credits per semester, or being a resident of California state.

There are many activities for parents. One of them is a virtual campus site tour. You can contact them by email or by phone to representatives of the SCC Outreach Department. Check it out on their website and schedule an appointment today. There is a Vietnamese representative name Loan Tran in this department for those who are concerned.

Cảm ơn bác đã chia sẻ, đúng với tiếng Anh muốn tiến bộ thì mình phải thường xuyên sử dụng ấy ạ

I just want to put a few thoughts to words.
I find it is a little bit cold that you just mentioned child labour as a mere fact.

No one can deny the importance of the industrial revolution, but this revolution also brought out the worst of humankind.
The living condition of many families didn't get improved at all but only worsened. People lost their work because of the coming of machines and were forced to work in factory to earn much less income. The growth of factories also attracted more and more workers into the city which led to unaffordable basic living needs. Thus children had to share the burden with their family.

Many children had to start working by the age of 5, with the salary of 10-20% of adult's salary. They had to work in harsh condition with no healthcare for more then 12h/day, then returned to their home which was not in much better condition since we'd paid no attention to the environment by then. Many became crippled due to work accidents, many more got health problem for bad working condition, and they all got kicked out when it happened.

When I was young, I read a few short stories written by Jack London because I liked reading about wildlife and Jack London was famous for White Fang and The Call of the Wild. To be honest, I cannot recall anything from those 2 short stories, but I can still remember vividly the story called "The Apostate". By then I did not understand why it had such a strong impression on me. But a few months ago, by some mere chance, I stumbled upon my old Jack London book, and I just had to re-read "The Apostate". Maybe it is because I am much more well read than I last read them, but it suddenly dawned on me why I was so stunned when I first read them. The raw emotion of the child that had been working since he could remember, sacrifice every thing he got in his life for his family and to what end? That realization of this child crushed himself and in turn crushed me.

And this short story is just only a scratch on the topic of child labour.

I still want to type out a little bit more, but I suddenly realized I've already typed a little bit too much, and it's 11 already. So I would just stop here.

As with many topics in our life, there are pros and cons to a certain phenomenon.

Your contributions to this matter will make it more comprehensive and valuable for readers.
Good night and look forward to reading more posts from you.

1. There are many things in our daily life that come from innovations in the past. For example, Mercedes Benz is one of the leading firms around the world that has many patents for innovative ideas. The appearance of the internal fuel combustion engine has accelerated its continuous development. The assembly line initiative was one of the best practices for improving productivity. Many cutting-edge technologies were being applied to our modern cars.

2. I have a passion for driving a car throughout the country of Vietnam. Henry Ford is one of my favorite people who contributed the most to the automobile industry. He made cars more affordable to buy. Ford cars are reasonable with high quality. Over time, the sales figures exploded in the car industry. Many people want to own a car so that they can drive their family to lands unknown. It is easier to work in a company that has a long distance from your house. Commuting is now more convenient and safer than ever.

3. Along with the development of the automobile industry, it is necessary to tackle the side effects. As you can see, traffic jams and air pollution are things that citizens in big cities have to face every daily life. The need for infrastructure construction such as building roads, setting up traffic lights and signals, and studying to build subways has to be considered at the same time. Nowadays, more and more people are suffering the traffic jams, which take their time enormously. Another problem that needs to be considered is pollutants that are released from vehicles. It is unbelievable that we are absorbing a range of different toxins from transportation. These can be nitrogen compounds, sulfur compounds, and carbon compounds which can cause a number of cancers.

4. It can not be worse if we recognize and act strongly to protect our life. There are two practical solutions that you can do immediately. Firstly, public transportation is increasingly fast, safe, and cheap. You can save your wage and time traveling by metro. The metro plays an important role in many big cities where the population is dense. You can avoid the traffic jams. The enormous amount of pollutants will be cut off of the environment, making your city a greener and less noisy one.

5. Next, we can organize our cities into subdivisions. It could be called as many cities inside a city. Inside each subdivision, there are all kinds of services, entertainment, industries, and housing. Citizens in each subdivision do not need to go anywhere to get their needs. These organized, logical, and friendly cities will reduce the demands for traveling, which contribute to environmental improvements.

6. I love my car and my city also. It is important for everyone to raise a voice for protecting the atmosphere. With consciousness and responsibility, you can do it. Good luck!

To be honest, I am a selfish person, I've never written for the greater good, for practices or any thing so fancy like that. I wrote simply because I wanted to put the thoughts into words, to put those words out of my mind, to put my mind at ease, to put the struggle of thinking too much out of my head.

I don't think I will be able to do what you do, to write something every day. But I'm gonna get in here once in a while to see what you share, to throw out what my thoughts are on the subject that you bring up, and especially to ease my mind of too many thoughts that obscure it.

So I think you will continue to see me here, being selfish, throwing out my thought behind the mask of practices. For here, no one gonna judge me for rambling too much or at least I don't feel like I'm annoying any one with all of my rambling.

1. Higher education is one of the most important concerns among students who are in their 20s of age. Today, I would like to provide some helpful information to those who share this mutual interest.

2. As you may know, I have mentioned the community college system in the U.S. Studying in higher education can vary in places, levels, and kinds of funding. There are a few things that students need to know prior to applying to a certain university or college. It could be financial aid programs, the reputation of an institution, courses offered, professional faculty, or services provided to students. I am learning about Santiago Canyon College which is a community college located in southern California state. I will take this as an example so I can provide you with helpful and comprehensive information.

3. SCC which stands for Santiago Canyon College provides a range of programs and services that students may find practical and helpful. There are many financial aid programs that could help students who are in low-income families and others release the burden of tuition and fees. The first program I would like to mention is the SCC Promise scholarship. To be eligible to apply to this program, you should satisfy some criteria. First, you must be a citizen of the U.S. or a Green Card holder. Second, you have maintained a continuous academic record with at least 12 units per semester and a grade point average of 2.0 or above. You should file your completed forms to the SCC system prior to the deadline of this program. This financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so please visit the SCC's website and complete the necessary steps to make you an eligible candidate.

4. The second program I want to inform you about is the WICHE, which stands for Western Interstate Commission of Higher Education, for those who intend to enroll in private colleges or out-of-state colleges. It is important to aware that college tuition may differ for those who have an in-state status, out-state status, or international students. If you enroll in a college included in the WICHE list, you just need to pay a tuition of as 150 percent higher than a person who has obtained in-state status. It could be 200% - 300% higher if you are an out-state student or international student. Of course, it also has many strict requirements and you need to visit the WICHE's website to know whether you meet all requirements it takes to be eligible for this program.

5. It is 1:04 am now, so I am going to sleep. See you tomorrow!
