i don't have one, and that's the problem. I'm learning fe dev on my own rn for a chance of a better future but I'm not sure about it, will they hire people without a degree?

I can read and listen alright, but practicing speaking on your own can be boring sometimes.
My friend is a fe dev too, I don't think a degree is necessary for this field. All you need to do is build a portfolio that can attract HR attention

One can never be sure of the future my man. How can you be sure you won't get any foreigner friend? I believe that anyone that try hard enough will be able to land a decent job and I believe you can do it too my friend :big_smile:

I'm working in the construction industry, insulation work to be exact. If you have a lot of confidence, try to apply for some big company man. Many people fear to apply for big company for their first job. But they didn't know the first job really affecting their working style. Working for a big company from the start will give you good discipline, help you understand how to manage your files, plan,...
About working with the Korean, these are some down side:

The most importance thing in working with Korean is that they pay a lot of attention to decorum, rank role and age. If you ever think Vietnamese's culture is hard on the decorum wait until you meet the Korean. They bow ~30 degree when greeting someone with higher rank, cannot point cigarette to any higher rank or older, turn another way when drinking wine,... Not every Korean is like that but you should keep that in mind because it will give you some good impression.
Also they only talking and taking suggestion from someone with the same rank. This is one of the most annoying thing about Korean, let's say my boss is the construction manager and I'm the admin. When the Korean manager want to buy some material, he will not tell me to buy it, he will tell his admin to tell me to buy it. Then I will have to give his admin the quotation so that admin can submit to him to approve. This is really shitty when you are running for deadline.
And the worst thing about Korean is that they love changing deadline and you have to follow it no matter what. It happen to me many times, when we already had a plan and following it, but then they just randomly told us "you have to finish the job before 11AM tomorrow". And we had to work overnight just to catch up with the new deadline.

The good things working with Korean:

If you working in the construction field, you will see that Korean really care for your safety. Because in Korea, if a worker have an accident, all the top rank of that company gonna get punished very hard, they may even go to jail depend on how serious that accident is.
They are tight with money but they play really fair if you play fair with them (or they don't know you playing unfair lmao). Nobody believe me when I say the main contractor (Korean guys) gave me and my boss (sub contractor) 40 million bonus each at the end of the project. If you working in the construction field, you will know that most of the time the sub contractor will have to bribe the main contractor, and the main contractor almost never any money to the sub contractor.

You just need to see about it as talking/thinking to your self, but instead of doing it in vietnamese, use english instead. Also, imagine yourself being interviewed about a topic that you're currently encountered or interested in, and give back answer.

I don't know man. I've just started this journey about two weeks ago, everything is darker than the good sis Dau's future, tbh.

Well, thank you for your advice, I will keep that in mind.
I've read some reviews on f33 about working in SS, LG. The current consensus is that if you work there too long then it will be hard to get another job with the same benefit, and you can't develop your skillset. And my social skill is in the trash can tbh, last 2 years of learning from home haven't helped either.
I feel kinda lost right now. On one hand, I can probably apply to some company in a few different industrial parks near home and earn a comfy living. On the other hand, 23 years of living and studying in the same place can make me depressed sometimes.

I agree, the way almost everything went wrong since I started living in ha loi and I never expected my life to be like this :cry:

from my personal experience, you should look for a mentor and speak with them alot. They would point out your pronunciation mistakes and help you to optimize your accent. Btw, try to improve your vocabulary by listening/watching TV show with Eng sub.

Improve your 3 other skills, and read a ton, and literally, a ton of English material. Also you should practice speaking, either by yourself or with other people (I recommend the second one) and make it a habit.

I just realize 80% comments here admitted that they are bad at speaking. We truly are vozer, all we do are staying inside and browsing voz that's why our speaking skill is shit :too_sad:

many may disagree but I think the best way is do what you love with English and start learning from that source. A lot of people don't believe me but I learned English by playing a lot of games since I was young. And now my main source of vocabulary come from reading books. But I must admit that using movie to improve vocabulary may be a bad choice, since you will have to pause a lot.

Maybe, you can try singing karaoke. Listening and singing songs may help you remember sentences. Then you can re-use them or improvise for other cases. Just my guess

Try a new way my friend, reading foreign newspapers might help. But when there is a word or clauses you don't know, search for it immediately.

For me, my best way to improve in speaking is listening and shadowing at the same time. You should buy a pair of Bluetooth headphones then try to listen to English podcasts then repeat what they are talking about. You can do it while you're washing dishes, cleaning your house,... whenever you want.

I want to learn English from movies, but:

with movies that I watched, I feel it not interesting, too boring
with movies that are new to me, I don't feel deeply about the movie

I use ubuntu os, so I am too tired when setting any media player to enable dual subtitles.
