I recommend senkkt to read "How to win friends and influence people". It seems that some part of your brain is malfunctioning. However, if you concern enough of your overall mental health, I suggest going to a mental institute, there you will learn how worthless some people are and how delusional they are in their mind. Best regards and condolences.
P/S: you will never be good at English, sorry to break your bubble. The only language you will be able to speak for the whole of your life would be Vietnamese, so learn to respect your mother tongue and stop being a disgrace to your family.
Haha, I see you've resorted to a combination ad hominem remarks and further purposefully misconstruing my words.
Get off your high horse and stop acting like you've ever said anything particularly meaningful when it was all just a bunch of walking fallacies. It was silly of me to expect a productive conversation from you I guess. Whether my English will be good is not up to you to decide, no bubble to even burst there, so no worries. You have a good day now.

Is this a problem of yours? You are senkkt? Funny how I never bat an eye at you and you hold grudge against me? With that attitude you will never get a friend kid
P/S: Loser, please stop quoting me, you are not smart enough

Sorry to hear that, I hope things will get better for you soon. Knowledge is boundless, so there's just no way to get to the bottom of it all. I just gotta take it easy, since I have a lot more time now. A more proactive and systematic approach is what I need. Anyway, because the course will end on the last day of this month, I will only have to endure my students' listlessness for another 2 weeks. And I'm gonna see how events will transpire. Right now, the whole thing is in shambles 😛😛😛. I still have a great deal of reservation about the 'guaranteed result' policy but who knows, there're quite a lot of hidden variables at play. It could also be that the rumour is nothing more than an embellished story.
Thanks. I hope so too. Keep me in the loop. I'm curious about how things will turn out.

Well, just yesterday, some class took the test and the students were woken up very early in the morning because the center somehow got the purported 'keys' for the listening, reading and writing tests. Surprisingly enough, these keys were legit, except for the listening section because the actual test was different. Anyhow, it didn't take me by surprise since leaked tests aren't anything new. This turn of events just went on to show that even an international test known for its difficulty and sets of stringent rules isn't exempt from malpractice and cheating. Guess that's why the registration fee for the course is so exorbitant (it's roughly six times that of the test itself and for those who want to enjoy the additional features of the 'special package', it's even more outrageous, at about 3160 USD). But then again, this is merely equivalent exchange. If you don't want to invest your time and effort into seriously studying for the test, you gotta pay. Just another instance of supply and demand in the end.

That being said, I do sympathize with some parents. Ielts has become so prevalent to the point that a cert is more or less prerequisite for university enrolment. Some kids have rather skewed priorities (those in my class being an example) and couldn't be bothered to make an effort to study for their future so sending them to an English center might be the parents' last resort to secure the children's chance of being admitted to a good university.

Not a fan of the Mekong Delta music genre, too many songs talk about their wrinkled love and poor life. I don't know if it's because it's influenced by Cải lương or not, but I find it frustrating how the singer drags out each word in every song and it makes it quite boring to listen to.

Hello everyone,

What would you do when you knew you are falling into a twisted cycle of depression and having no emotion to work anymore?

Holy shit, such amounts of money are insane. It's unfair to other students in the race for good colleges. But life is sadly always unfair.

Life is so unpredictable. There are unexpected turning points that might change your life completely. I'm at a major juncture. Scary.

Understand. I hope you can find someone to talk to soon. Or, if you don't mind, share it here.
In short; I lost my belief in myself. Furthermore, I think I screwed up one of my biggest opportunities ever.

I went to Korea to study grad school in 2018. I'm lucky that my parents are still working and they haven't suffered major health issues for the last 6 years. Now, after graduating in Feb 2024 and securing a temporary 1 year job in the same lab I finished my degree; I think I burned out and can't find any motivation to do my job anymore. Such a fucking shame, because, you know, the ruthless machine named academia will devour any "unmotivated ones" alive and chew out an utterly broken version of themselves.

I thought the reason for my burnout was the complacency I gained after staying in the same department for fucking 6 years. I applied around and last month, I got an offer from the United States (**** yeah!). Now; one month after signing the initial contract; I found out that the 3rd vendor responsible for conducting the background investigation couldn't contact my University to verify my degree. And of course, they failed to verify it; even after I sent them all of the documents that could prove them I got my Ph.D. degree. I also haven't heard anything from the legal department for 3 weeks, which fanned more winds into the fire named anxiety inside my head. That fucking fire is burning me alive for the whole month.

Worse, looking back after 6 years, I failed to accumulate any assets (besides a minor amount of money), and I am visualizing the day of poverty ahead of my life when I have to return to our country. My only "marketable skill" are conducting research, and you all know damn well that our country does not value research.

**** IT HOW CAN I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MYSELF AND MY AGING PARENTS>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In short; I lost my belief in myself.
Ask yourself what makes you lose confidence. If it’s self-doubt, face it and keep going with what you need to do, even if it feels scary.

I’m really sorry this happened to you. It’s such a bummer to miss out just because someone else messed up. But you should be proud of all the hard work you've done to get the offer. Though it’s disappointing, it’s all part of life. This setback could be a chance for an even better opportunity down the line. Take a break and keep your eyes open for new chances. I’m positive you will get one soon.

I know you might feel a sense of urgency, thinking you haven’t achieved anything or that you’re falling behind and need to move faster. At the same time, you feel overwhelmed, fearing that you may never obtained your goals. But remember, you’ve been working hard for the past six years. Your body and mind need to recharge to feel refreshed and energized before continuing the journey. You have plenty of time, and I’m confident that your hard work will pay off eventually. Just be patient, take care of yourself, and wait for the right moment.

The verdict is not out yet - I haven't received ANY emails from the legal department or human resources of the new employee, but I can't bring any amount of hope to boost myself. I...never went through that type of emotion before.

Proud......please, don't mention that words. Anyone in academia heard that damn word multiple times. Do you know what they call the Ph.D.? "my child is a doctor - not earning money one". If you're willing to sacrifice 6-7 years in a university and live the life of a poverty dog, yeah, you will get that title, and then...nothing left.

I'm 30. Booksmart, not street-smart, thus I don't believe I can catch the opportunities. I already missed a lot of them in the past.

Sigh.

How's everything going for you? I hope you're feeling better and things have changed for the better. ☕

30 years old, you still have 30 years more to try. I agree that you might feel disappointed comparing yourself with your peers and you did not live up to your potential. But life is suck, if you are a man, suck it up and figure something else, if you are a girl well find a husband then.
You have a Phd and studying abroad for 6 years, teaching a foreign language could be an option. It may not pay well but it will give you time to re-evaluate your choices and opportunities at least having something to do is better than doing nothing but self-pity all days. Gud luck :shame:
