The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004.
The line graph gives information about the weekly consumption of fish and three other types of meat in one European nation from 1979 to 2004.
Overall, there was a decline in the amount of fish, lamb, and beef eaten. In contrast, the figure for chicken increased gradually and became the most consumed type of meat for the rest of the period.
The amount of beef eaten per person weekly started at 220 grams, after which it saw fluctuations until 1989, before dropped to about 110 grams in 2004. Conversely, chicken rose from less than 150 grams in 1979 and took the lead from 1989 onwards, reaching its peak at about 260 grams a week.
Lamb was the second most eaten meat in 1979, being consumed at about 150 grams per week. However, from 1979 onwards there was a gradual decline in its consumption, falling to approximately 50 grams at the end of the period. Fish was consistently eaten the least, beginning at about 60 grams in 1979 and dropped to just under 50 grams in 2004
