as @dutchcourage said.
To push it a little further, the "Fortune cookie" usually has a piece of paper in it that suppose to "tell your fortune". But lately it mostly consist of random lines from "self-help" book like "Persistence will pay off" or something like that.
And a birthday cake is of course a cake to celebrate birthday. You will know of it as "bánh kem", and nowadays we also got Tiramisu cake, Corn cake,... as birthday cake.
Thank you so much for your detailed explanation.
But when I entered a test, there was a question which is "Are you a fortune cookie or a birthday cake?". What does it mean in this context?

This question is equivalent to "Are you a human?". Answer "No, I'm neither a fortune cookie nor a birthday cake. I'm a human." and move on.

I believe it's referring to how you see yourself:
"Fortune cookie": you're a humble, small person with a big heart, who always tries to bring surprises and be supportive of others.
"Birthday cake": your existence itself is a great joy to other people, and you lighten up the mood/atmosphere wherever you go. You are widely considered to be trustworthy (by the fact that many whisper their wishes to the birthday cake) and much like the fortune cookie, you share your own happiniess with others (birthday cakes are usually cut up into pieces and served at the end of the party).
Of course, this is a very lighthearted and positive view. It's just as easy to say being a "fortune cookie" person means being a very snarky individual who likes to ostensibly comfort people with textbook motivational quotes, or someone remembered once for anything or an occasion, then quickly forgotten afterwards, in the case of the "birthday cake".

Hello, welcome to my blog:https://beginlifeatforty.com/2023/07/13/may-rambling-2023/

I live in the US. I'm here if you have any questions about English. Have a productive day!
Hi there, I have a small question but it does not relate to English if you don't mind answering.
I just wonder how did you set up your blog?

In the last few months, I've been playing with the idea of creating an online journal or some kind of blog. The reason, which may sound stupid, is that sometimes I have an urge to share my thoughts, to express my feeling, either it's just some thoughts about the book I just read, my point of view about some random philosophy (not the grand kind of course), or just simply ranting about my day.
I know that I can simply write it all down in a private diary. But my heart yearns to share its feeling out to the world, although my mind know that it would not make any different. This urge of mine got amplified when I stumbled upon these passage in a book by John E. William
I write them for myself and my own perusal. Even if I wished otherwise, it is unlikely that any eyes save my own shall see them... It is myself whom I would persuade to truth by the force of my discourse, and myself whom I would dissuade. It is a foolishness, yet I believe not a harmful one.
And yesterday, when I saw your comment about your blog, I felt like all the sign is there for me. So here I am asking for some of your advices about creating a blog/journal for my own selfish purpose.

And thank you in advance.

Hi, I use WordPress. It offers several plan options that fit your needs. Mine is Personal Plan. The price for it was dirt cheap; currently $4 per month with a free domain for one year. I don't remember specific steps, so just check out the website and follow their instructions, I'm sure you will find it easy to set up. Hope you have your own blog soon!

Forgot to mention that you can create your blog for free. WordPress offers that option, but if you go for it, "WordPress" will be part of your domain, e.g. "EinUchiha.wordpress.com".

Nowadays, there are a lot of ways to create a blog, such as WordPress, Wix, and Jekyll. However, I recommend using Notion to do it. Notion can not only be used to create blog posts but also to jot down your ideas. Additionally, it is available on both PC and mobile (Android & iOS).

But notion is too expensive
