To push it a little further, the "Fortune cookie" usually has a piece of paper in it that suppose to "tell your fortune". But lately it mostly consist of random lines from "self-help" book like "Persistence will pay off" or something like that.
And a birthday cake is of course a cake to celebrate birthday. You will know of it as "bánh kem", and nowadays we also got Tiramisu cake, Corn cake,... as birthday cake.
But when I entered a test, there was a question which is "Are you a fortune cookie or a birthday cake?". What does it mean in this context?
